About Us: The Wood Designs Story

Wood Designs Denny And Debbie Gosney

Hello.

We're Denny & Debbie Gosney, the owners of Wood Designs.
We appreciate your looking through our catalog of early learning furniture.
Debbie and I have been involved in manufacturing
for the school and early learning industries for over 50 combined years.
During that time, we have learned that every year requires our attention
to improving safety, quality and service.
If we are to maintain our leadership position, we realize we must continually
improve for our customers and especially for the users of our products.

Debbie and I hope you will find the products you're looking for on our web site.
Also, remember to request YOUR copy our latest catalog. We'd be glad to send it to you.
Custom work is always welcomed at Wood Designs because sometimes "different"
is exactly what a customer needs. If it's made from wood, we can make it.

Last but not least, we want to say "Thank you".
Whether you're a new customer, an old customer, or just browsing,
we appreciate your interest in our company and products.
We've grown from the days of using table saws & hand drills
to the current days of using computer controlled equipment for almost everything.
But we haven't changed our attitude toward wanting to help people
and we want you to feel the same with us. Call us whenever we can help.
We're here to serve you.

Our History

THIRTY years ago, Wood Designs started with one goal:
TO BE THE BEST EARLY LEARNING MANUFACTURER IN THE COUNTRY.
Situated in the heart of the furniture capital of the world; Monroe, NC,
Wood Designs has attracted highly skilled craftspeople
with vast experience in making premium quality furniture to join our team.
Through the years, our reputation grew as our customers enjoyed the beauty, quality & value of our product line.

In 1994, the ownership of the company changed- but not the original mission.
Wood Designs began using new customer oriented initiatives.
The new way of thinking & acting brought positive changes, not only to Wood Designs,
but to the entire industry as a whole. A better quality product,
as well as an increase in on-time delivery & satisfaction ratings, were the result.

Always striving to improve, Wood Designs has been a leader in the use of the
latest technological advances, making existing products not only better, but SAFER.
A great example of this is our EXCLUSIVE TIP-ME-NOT™ product line (for selective Tip-Me-Not items, as marked, only) .
With up to a 300% greater tip-resistance, it is the safest,
most child friendly furniture available for the early learning environment.

As for the future, you can count on Wood Designs
to continue to provide excellent quality, service and product innovations;
maintaining our leadership role in the early learning furniture marketplace.

Our Purpose

"Wood Designs makes furniture with the purpose
of enriching the development of a young child's life.

With our purpose in mind,
we ensure that our materials are of the finest quality

before we put it in the hands of our youngest customers."

- Dennis Gosney, President of Wood Designs, Inc.

Tip-Not Doors
Tip-Not Door Photo
Built with safety as our first priority, Wood Designs designed this special safety feature
for all of our products with doors. Tip-Not™ doors go all the way down the front of the product.
When the door is open, the design prevents the unit from tipping over.

Pinch-Me-Not Hinges

Because little fingers are going to be using and exploring our products,
we designed Pinch-Me-Not™ hinges that run the full-length of the hinged doors.
This eliminates the space between the door and the unit to minimize the risk of pinched fingers.

Rounded Edges

Rounded edges help to prevent injuries in the classroom.
All sharp edges and corners are heavily rounded to soften & protect.
